Why is the Whitetail Deer Special?:In the history of wildlife management in North America, there are few success stories as remarkable as that of the white-tailed deer. In the late 1800s, habitat destruction and commercial hunting had reduced Whitetail populations to an all-time low of some 300,000.
Today, experts estimate the whitetail population at some 30 million, with the historic recovery due largely to the dedicated financial and conservation efforts of dedicated sportsmen-conservationists.
